Post pounding is a highly cost effective method of fence installation by which long and extensive runs of fencing can be installed quickly and efficiently. The process involves using machinery to drive pencil shaped fence posts deep into the ground. Hundreds of feet of sturdy fencing can be installed in a day as a cost efficient solution to long fence runs. The breaking strength of driven posts is capable of withstanding up to 1785-2000 lbs of force, and have a very strong uplift resistance due to the ground pressure created as they are driven in. They are capable of suspending 14 foot gates, and withstanding the scratching butts of horses and cattle. Due to the tree's cambium layer remaining intact, pencil posts are more effectively pressure treated than dimensional lumber, and the absence of concrete to trap moisture against the lumber's contraction makes them highly resistant to rot. The absence of concrete means efficient installation, and the ability to easily move, reuse, and reset posts to accomodate the ever changing needs of farm layouts.
